Speaker Profile: PAUL BARCROFT

Paul Barcroft has been a Podiatric practitioner for over 30 years initially a private practitioner but for the majority of his professional career managed a large commercial orthosis laboratory.

His sound understanding of modern Podiatric Biomechanics comes from years of experience both teaching the concepts of foot function but also in the prescribing and use of functional foot orthoses.

Paul has lectured upon the subject world wide and brings to the table the ability to make the understanding of gait and the
provision of foot orthoses easily understood by all disciplines interested in the subject.

Speaker Profile: IAN MATHIESON

Senior lecturer at the Wales Centre for Podiatric Studies. Ian completed his PhD ‘Foot-type as a risk marker in chronic low back pain’ in 2005.

Ian remains involved with the undergraduate Podiatry programme, and now also teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students, and supervises PhD students.

Ian has published several articles concerning foot function, and has spoken at a variety of conferences. In line with his interest in research methods and evidence based practice Ian is author of ‘A Podiatrist’s guide to using research’ (2007), and also series editor of the ‘Pocket Podiatry’ series of clinical handbooks scheduled for publication in 2009.
