FAQs

Can I use hydrogen peroxide to clean foot cuts or scrapes?
Only for an initial rinse to remove dirt or debris. Continuous daily use delays healing because it is cytotoxic (damages healthy new skin cells). Simple soap and water or saline work better.
Does it cure toenail fungus (onychomycosis)?
No. While it has mild antimicrobial properties, it cannot effectively penetrate the nail plate to reach the fungus in the nail bed.
Is it safe for people with diabetes?
No. Patients with diabetes or poor circulation should avoid hydrogen peroxide on wounds or ulcers. It destroys fibroblasts (cells needed for collagen and tissue repair) and dries out the skin, which severely impairs healing and raises infection risks.
What concentration should be used if applied topically?
Always stick to standard 3% pharmacy solutions. Higher concentrations can cause severe chemical burns and tissue damage.
Can it treat athlete`s foot?
Not a proven or recommended cure for fungal skin infections and can irritate cracked skin.
