Canonbury and Crisis at Christmas

Canonbury and Crisis at Christmas

It’s been half a century since Crisis was founded, as an urgent response to an unacceptable situation. We didn’t expect to be here, facing a similar crisis, 50 years on.

With decades of experience helping people rebuild their lives, Crisis understands that everyone is different, and everyone has different reasons for becoming homeless. Guests at Crisis at Christmas receive more than just warmth, food and companionship – they can make the most of a range of advice, support and specialist services.

Each winter, Canonbury donates the equipment needed for hundreds of homeless people to access podiatry services. That’s hundreds of corns, calluses, blisters and infections they help treat.

Ian Richards, Head of Crisis at Christmas, said: “Crisis at Christmas is only possible because of the energy and generosity of thousands of individuals, organisations, and volunteers, who donate time, skills, and goods, united in a belief that we can end homelessness. We would like to thank Canonbury for their long term support in donating the equipment for the podiatry service, which helps us provide homeless people with vital support at Christmas.”

But Crisis don’t stop there. At their Christmas centres, they introduce people to their year-round training, education and support with housing, employment and health. This long-term support helps people to rebuild their lives and leave homelessness behind for good.

When we have a place to call our own, we have the best chance of being healthy, having a job and feeling part of society.

About Crisis

Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We are committed to ending homelessness. Every day we see the devastating impact homelessness has on people’s lives. Every year we work side by side with thousands of people, to help them rebuild their lives and leave homelessness behind for good.

Through our pioneering research into the causes and consequences of homelessness and the solutions to it, we know what it will take to end it.

Together with others who share our resolve, we bring our knowledge, experience and determination to campaign for the changes that will prevent and end homelessness once and for all.

We mobilise a huge volunteer effort each Christmas to bring warmth, companionship and vital services to people at one of the hardest times of the year. We help people take the first steps out of homelessness, offering Crisis’ year-round support and training to help them leave homelessness behind for good.

We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.
